Speedway Karting Editorial

Welcome to the opening of the "Speedway Karting" online magazine web site. For several years now a group of us have passed around the idea of a Speedway only Karting site with a magazine style format. We feel that with the oval track segment of Karting gaining in popularity every year, it would only be logical to have a site dedicated to this sector and the activity that takes place around it. Oval track Karting in the U.S. has so much to offer that we felt that by showcasing the various tracks, track owners, racers, promoters and business's it would help pull us together and give us a stronger presence in the motorsports community. We also felt that the major motorsports sanctioning bodies that we all look up to and respect, all have one thing in common, and that is their organizations represent a specific type of motorsports and that in turn makes them much stronger and more responsive to their members needs. Examples of this would be NASCAR (Stock Cars), IRL (Open wheel oval racing) NHRA (Drag Racing), The World of Outlaws (Sprint Cars) and so on. With the advent of the Burris National Speedway Series (BNSS) last year we feel that Speedway Karting will fill that void that Karting now has due to the fragmented nature of the major Karting sanctioning bodies national programs.

Now that you have a good idea of where we are headed and what our intentions are, let's take a look at what Speedway Karting will have to offer, and what our goals are. Like we mentioned earlier, the format will be similar to a magazine, but instead of having monthly issues, we'll be constantly changing on the fly. Something new and different every time you log on! As new articles and topics come up, the old ones will be archived so that they will be available for later viewing and reference.

Our first section will be labeled "News" and will consist of News Releases that are related to our sport and industry, New Product releases and the Rumor Mill. With all the "insider" information available to us, this section will keep you up to date on the latest happenings, the newest products and the hottest gossip and should make for some interesting and entertaining reading!

Next will be our "Forums" section, and it will feature a discussion board on all the latest hot topics. One of the topics will be exclusively for the new emerging F200/OHV kart engines hitting the market. The other will be for the exchange of Chassis Setup and Tuning information and the other will be for Burris Tire related discussions. Our goal is to keep these as serious and as accurate as possible, and to use them to further the availability of valid information to the racers and mechanics in the oval track Karting community. As time goes by other forums will be added as necessary.

Following the "Forums" section will be one of our favorites, the F200 page. This section will showcase the various engines and accessories as they become available. Also, there will be a Discussions forum to encourage the interchange of ideas and technical information on the F200 subject. There will be a FAQ (frequently ask questions) link that will hopefully be a big assist to those of you who need some help getting started in this area. If things go according to plan, a lot of those questions will be answered by the industry guru's, which will add a tremendous amount of credibility to this project! Finally, there will be a "Resource" section so the different bits and pieces such as cams, pistons, rods, carb's, etc will have a common location for you engine builders and enthusiasts to browse to find the products necessary to make these motors scream.

After "F200" will be another interesting page that will be devoted to past karters who made it big in motorsports and also show some of the history of Karting in the past. The page will be called "Karter's Bio's" and will feature former Karters who moved on to make a name for themselves as drivers, mechanics or whatever in the motorsports field. The bio's will be a bit of a departure from those we normally see, as the emphasis will be on their former Karting days and not as much on their current celebrity status as is the usual method. The "Historical" part will feature past events, equipment, drivers, so you newer racers will get a better idea of where your karting roots are from and where the sport has been.

The next link is the "BNSS" link and goes directly to the Burris National Speedway Series page and will bring you up to date on all the happenings in the BNSS. Once there, you will be able to view race schedules, race results with real photos that are only days (not months) old. Another new feature will be a bulletin board for the series that are part of the BNSS as well as the individual tracks so you can get the latest up to date info and gossip. (FYI. At this point in time the Burris National Speedway Series is the largest, most widespread oval track program in the U.S. with tracks and series from coast to coast!) These bulletin boards will be a great spot to just go and browse and possibly see yourself in action or to just check out what the rest of the karters around the country are doing.

Next is the "Tech Shop" and it will be a question and answer type format with specific topics to challenge the experts. When fully implemented, it will feature some of the most respected names in the karting industry who will be on call to answer your questions about their products in particular or just karting in general. This one is still a ways out in the making, but should be online later this year.

The last link will be one that I feel will be very important to all of us, and that is the "Editorial" section. It will be divided into three parts and will have editorials from the management of Speedway Karting magazine (SK Editorials); "Guest Editorials" from respected karting and industry related individuals from around the country and a "Letters to the Editor" section for those of you who wish to respond to these editorials. We feel that this will give the oval track karting industry and racers throughout the country a place to be heard, which is something that was badly needed in the past.

Down the road as Speedway Karting magazine grows and refines it format, we want to encourage you to write us with your comments and make suggestions on how we can improve and better communicate with you and serve the oval track karting community. We here at SK are very excited about the future and can't wait to get the site up and rolling. Until the next time, good luck and good racing.
